Independants Day In Belize September 21

September 20, 2005
Today was a good day in San Lazaro they had a meeting at the school in celebration of Independence Day in Belize followed by a parade. Independence Day is tomorrow. All the villages have parades. The Catholic School was also there. The whole town turned out for this. There were little Queens and Princess for the day Everything was decorated in Red, White and Blue. I was going to walk with some of the women. But I changed my mind and rode in the Rodeo with Don and Galo. Everything was done to music. There were two trucks of speakers. Everyone had a good time.

Classrooms dedicated at San Lazaro

September 7,2005

Charlie Joe came to Belize to dedicate the new classrooms on August 28th. Everything looks great after all the hard work the schoolrooms look wonderful. There are many people that have worked very hard on the school and now was the time to dedicate it to the Lord. Thanks to the Board of Missions, all the people to donated money, The teams that came Donald Smiths Arkansas Team who worked tireless to put up the walls and get the roof ready for tin, , Tony Russell Team that put the roof on and fixed the windows, The Alabama team who helped paint . Thanks Carol Jackson who worked tireless to paint the sign on the front of the church it looks beautiful. But we don’ want to over look the nationals without them it would have been impossible. Thanks Ernesto Carrillo, Gallo Carrillo, Mr. Hillie and his helpers that helped from the village everything was ready for the dedication. . We were a little disappointed that no one from the Board of Missions came for the dedication They had put so much of there effort into it. It was good to see everyone. Good food was served Rice and beans and stewed chicken ,the village turned out and was excited about the new school and so did other officials from this area. San Lazaros’ Praise Team was there and preformed very well. Everyone should be so proud of the school.
There was a workshop on August 29th Don went to Sand Hill to get them and had them here by 9:00 for the workshop. He carried them back later.
School started on Monday everyone was excited. It was such a pleasure to see all the children dressed in uniforms ( tan and brown )singing there national anthem.
Don passed another school of a different domination. On the first day they had a multitude of children on the first day of school many with machetes the rest with rakes trying to cut a summers worth of grass and trash. I doubt that would go over in the states. The teachers also do all repairs! We are blessed and proud of our schools. It’s a place where they can really learn. And we can be proud of.
Don and myself went with Charlie Joe to Punta Gorda as he was see about previsions of the Medical Team. It is a beautiful place mountains and the sea it looks like a postcard. There is much work that could be done in there. A lot of poor people live in those villages. It’s the poorest part of the country. of Belize. We spent one night there and the clutch was giving trouble so we decided to come home a day early and have it worked on.. We had a good trip
We are still going to August Pine Ridge trying to rebuild the work there. Continue to pray for that village. And the people who live there.
. The ladies group is doing fine . It has gotten off to a good start and I know it will help the church here. We had our 3rd meeting Thursday and it was attend well. Its great how they share. We have one lady that doesn’t come to church coming. We have been treated well here. We are still having a lot of company. Most of the church comes home with us on Wednesday we talk to 11:00-11:30.and other times as well.
We carried Charlie Joe to the airport yesterday and he is now at home. We enjoyed his visit very much. Hope there is not too much damage to his home and his family’s.
We are all working hard here. The schools are running but there is still a lot of maintenance to be done . The summer is almost gone. It went so quick.
We hope everyone is ok and you didn’t receive a lot of damage during the hurricane. Louisiana has been overrun with people and crime. I have heard from Lettsworth and they are working hard to help the storm victims. There churches weren’t damaged.
I am hoping we can get some pictures on this tomorrow check it out.. We will see how that turns out.
